Because of this wonderful forum, I knew I could get the same battery direct from DEKA, only in a white case instead of a black.

Unfortunately, I waited one week too long, and my original Harley battery left me stranded. It was 7 years, 11 months, and one week old.

Fortunately, I was able to borrow a car from a lady PGR member and rush to the Harley dealer before closing, and get a replacement battery. It cost me $182 (with MN sales tax). From DEKA, it would have been about $130.

My last battery came from the Harley dealership, but my next battery will be a Big Crank, probably from Battery Mart.

Whichever one you get seems to last much longer if you keep them plugged into a battery tender. Just replaced a stock HD battery from an 06 Electra Glide last summer. I replaced it with another HD. Before I started using the battery tender I was replacing batteries every couple of years.

Pretty much anything that has the right CCA and doesn't say Harley on it.

FWIW
I never did see a final post from other threads of a photo with a DEKA vs. HD battery cut open and compared.

So I for one would like to see those photos.

My last Battery I got from the dealer and my A$$ still hurts. Kept it on a tender always and it only lasted 5 years. I just bought a Deka from my local Indy. He said they make them for HD and it was about $45 less than the dealer cause it doesn't say HD on it. HD...Hundred Dollars. I figure if it only last 4 years well the $45 savings is like pro-rated

Wrestled with this issue just last week. My nearly 5-year old OEM batt just wasn't cranking the motor over the way it used to, so I figured time to replace. Read and reread all the batt posts on this Forum, checked out the vendor websites, but ultimately decided to just truck on down to the dealer and pick up an 'HD' batt @$130. Probably overpaid for the item, but who doesn't go over-budget every now and then on their bike?! Ride safe.

If you voted for others tell us what the other was. I should have left interstate and Everstart off the list.

Another thread on Batteries to read
