Milwaukee Museum Area Info
We have to un expectantly make a quick trip through Milwaukee and thought we would hit the Museum Saturday Morning.
Could anyone give me a good hotel close to the museum and a good place to get a beer and a burger nothing fancy?
Thanks!

Best hotel nearby is the Iron Horse. Pricey and probably booked. It's a short walk to the museum. Next closest are Ramada, Hilton, and Double Tree and within walking distance. Courtyard is pretty close too. I haven't stayed at any of these FYI so YMMV.
Sobelman's is a local favorite and pretty close to the museum - a mile?
Here's the web site.

If you drive and it's a nice day, Kopps on Port Washington Rd is another favorite, but the only have outdoor seating.

Have fun and enjoy the city.

I just wanted to drop a note and thank Nevada72 again!
We stayed at the Iron Horse and had a burger at Sobelmans and both were excellent. If someone finds this in a search I definitely recommend both.
We also walked down to second street and had drinks at several of the establishments. Hats off to Milwaukee we never met a person we didn't enjoy.
Thanks Again! We will definitely be back.

We were there when they opened and went through and had to leave to get up to the UP. There were some there and more rolling in when we were leaving.
I'm still at awe of the # 1 bike, all the history and the story on the AMF mess and getting out of it. It actually peaked my interest in owning an old bike, there were a couple I took pick of that I can't get out of my head. The guys that rode those old bikes off road doing the Jackpine and Hill Climbs had to be some hard crazy mfers.
It's just great to see an amazing American Manufacturing Story.

We went around noon and saw the "whole enchilada". Watched the slow races etc and took in all the sights. I agree, every time I see those old bikes I think "What if...?" which is a dangerous thing if you know me at all. I have a serious jones for a VL. There happens to be one nearby that comes up for sale occasionally. I may be in trouble next time around.
Glad you enjoyed Milwaukee and made it up north safely.
Thanks Tim. We agree - it's the BEST thing about this forum. Speaking of which, we gotta get together for a ride soon. We may be doing another Galena run - I'll keep you posted.
