No fuel pump sound or odometer lights...
Hello,
I have a 2004 Sportster 1200C. Today I was trying to charge my battery because I have not driven that bike in awhile. While the bike was charging, my dad walks over and puts the charger on "engine start" and tells me to try it. So I give it a shot. The bike turns over a little and stops. I lose the ability to turn the bike over, the odometer lighting goes out, and the fuel pump no longer turns on when the key is turn on.
After this, I begin checking fuses to see if one had popped. Sure enough, one of the 15a fuses under the rear seat was shot. I replaced it and it gave me back the ability to turn the bike over.
After this, i began searching the forums to see if others have had similar issues. i found several threads that had similarities but none were the same imo.
In an attempt to fix the problem I bought new fuses for all the 15a slots, i bought a new HD battery, and I bought a new relay that sits right next to the 15a fuses. (still no fuel pump sound when the key is turned on and no odometer lights or numbers...)
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Its not fuel injected. Maybe the sound I am thinking of isn't the fuel pump. There for sure used to be some sort of sound when the key was turned to the on position. So maybe my only problem is i have lost my gauges... I will check it out.
Thanks for the response Rolla

Todays biggest dummy award goes to.... wait for it... ME!
I'm not sure what I was thinking. I think I was just really annoyed and just assumed the bike wouldn't start because it wouldn't be getting fuel. Turns out it runs just fine.
That being said, I still have no initial engine light/oil light before startup and no backlight in the speedometer. I am unsure if the speedo works or not because its dark and I have not driven it yet. (I will find out in the morning.)
Any ideas as to how to fix the cluster?
Ill keep searching as well. Thanks again for the eye opener Rolla.
