Default Is this normal?

In March 2014 I put a do lop 401 on the rear of my 2005 hearitge. (bike is new to me) took it in for service yesterday and was shown 1/32 tread left. Iv put 3,200 miles on mostly all 2 lane paved back roads.

I have neaver had a passenger, Iam heavy (350). But 3000k really?

Had planned on getting the 402 wide white walls I believe thay are a harder tire.

My main question is, with only getting 3000, any chance do lop will help me out?
Or am I just SOL?

I've never run the 401, but from what I'm told, that's about what they get for life. I've run over two dozen 402 WWW tires over the last 21 years. I get between 6500-9500 miles on a rear of my Heritage Softail.

Dave, do you use a lot of rear brake? Heavy acceleration and rear braking can do that to a tire, especially with heavier rider weights.

I have never gotten that few miles on a rear tire. I have Wide Whites on my heritage with 6000 miles on it and all sorts of tread left.

If I had to put a number on it I'd say I'm 80/20 front break.

I'll post what happens at the dealership. Thanks for the responses.

When I first got my Heritage I ran the Dunlop 401 for a while and got around 4 to 6K out of them. I have since switch to Michelin commander II and I'm past 6K and they are still looking good.

would never go back to dunlops. bought my bike with 3k on it and the tires were nearly fried. don't know what kind of rider the guy was, but needing a tire at 4k seems ridiculous. i here good things about the commander II, currently running the pirelli night dragons, and i will definitely buy another set of these when i need them

I've got close to 12K on my rear tire. I do pay attention to tire pressure and there more ponies than stock going to the rear tire.
