Default Opinions needed on 1979 Low Rider & 1980 Wide Glide

Today I checked out two bikes, a very low mileage 1979 Low Rider and a decent looking 1980 Wide Glide. From the description I expected the Low Rider to be very clean - it supposedly only has 5400 miles and in a garage since 1980. It doesn't leak and runs really good. It is in very good condition - but not $9500 OBO perfect. Well that's my opinion anyway. What do you guys think ? He had it repainted black when he bought it in 1980 - I think even the tires are original, and surprise - still soft and no dry rot !

That'a a lot of money ... But if it's what you're looking for ( basically unmolested ) I'd say you found it ... Yes the Good Year Eagle A/T's were stock.

Has most of the right stuff for the vintage. However, looks like a Super E carb which which didn't exist in those days. IIRC, the tires are period correct. You're right that $9,500 is way too much. If it were original paint maybe $7,500. IMO it's worth about 6K. God I don't miss those banana calipers.

I'm leaning towards the Wide Glide, but the owner wouldn't let me take it for a ride He did let me ride on the back (And when I asked him where I should hold on... he kindly replied - "anywhere but my ****" - LOL !!) So I don't want to be a douche but I would like to make sure it rides ok, and possibly have a shop look it over to make sure the frame isn't bent or anything else major. Should I insist ? I'm hesitant because the price is good $6500 OBO. Also for some odd reason the previous owner installed a fatboy front end (he still has the original front end, foot controls, etc.) It does leak a little from the tranny...

If those pictures are the lowrider it isn't as low mile nor original as somebodies telling you, that bikes been monkeyed with way to much for under 6k miles and had many parts changed out like that rear caliper it isn't stock. Looking at around $6500 , owners fishing.

The wide glide's another matter owners taken care of it done some proper mods and the later model front end is a huge plus if your going to ride it. it's a much better unit than the stock one. Tranny leak is common enough and the low rider is going to start weeping from all over as soon as it starts getting ridden regular, old gaskets dry out on those sitting.

The Wide Glide looks as though it's had some TLC ... Performance Machine Read Caliper is a plus. The engine has been apart ... Chrome Rocker Boxes ... Sooner or later you're gonna have to jump in and swim with the sharks. Shovels are hard to break but need a lot of TLC ... and they sound W O N D E R F U L !!

I would not give no where where what they want. Unless it really has your eye and want it bad. A buddy just sold a (I think) a 92 low rider. It had 24,000 miles in near perfect condition for $4,000
