Leather Vests
Yo!
Lookin fer a good side lace-up vest.
Something I can put my local HOG colors on and wear over my jacket in the colder months and just over a t-shirt when the weather get nice out (if it ever does).
Anyone have a good place online that won’t break the back fer a decent leather vest?
Where do you go to sew the patches on? getting thru leather can be a beeeotch.
Thanks all. Peace –N.

Ok, I'll be the first of many to say Fox Creek Leather. They make a great quality product and have great customer service. Do a search for Fox Creek and you'll get a ton of hits.

Yeah....what Pete said. Fox Creek Leather = Excellent products and service.
As far as getting the patches sewn on, call around to some local laundromats. Usually they will be able to help in that area. That's who did my patches. If not them trying contacting any leather shops in the area.

Make sure they can do thicker leather products.... some tailors are really not prepared to do motorcycle leather types, they break needles and mess up the stitching pretty badly.
You might try a boot/shoe resole type of place or even an actually leather shop(for leather work/kits/art) not a biker shop but you can check those as well.
Actually ask your groups own people, since many of them have their colors on already..they got em done somewhere... so ask!!

Patch sewing:Ask the motorclothes girls at the dealer or other HOG membersto get someone who does it all the time-I almost did that but discovered that mylocal tailor's done a lot of 'em so I used their shop, turned out perfect.

RE: Leather Vests
Myself and guys I ride with have used a lot of different leather vests over the years, and the best I've had (and still use) is the HD Piston 2.
It has side up lacing, is VERY heavy duty, and has a plain back for putting on a patch without having to go over a bunch of seams....
The thicker leather also holds up very well when adding patches.
I like to save money as much as anyone, but when it comes to a vest that will last forever the Piston 2 is well worth the additional cost. I've heard of them being sold 'on sale' in the $125 range, and normal cost is in the $165 area.
I have patches installed by a friend of mine that does leather upholstery work. He has the heavy duty sewing machines and special thread to get the job done.
