Default Agent orange ankle degeneration

I live in Thailand and have a HD. 3 months ago I discovered my left foot would not extend up from the ankle up so I could shift my HD. Down OK. Up not OK. I just got back from the VA and th Dr. said I had nerve damage from the AO I was in , my 2 years in Vietnam. The up nerve is kaput (LOL). Is there anyone out there who has the same problem? Rode my bike to the market today ( successfully ) but what a hassle. Had to shift into 2/3/4/5 pulling my foot up via my hip/knee. I made it work. Anyone have any ideas?

Add or get a bike with a heal/toe shifter.

the heel/toe shifter should do the trick. the pro-stock drag bikes use a push button shifter...check it out...probably expensive or not practical for street use.

There's a lot of operation mods that can help you out- FYI Thailand had a lot of AO sprayed in active airfields and listening posts. (NKP etc..)

Ya, heel shifter....heck of a good reason to get a new bike if need be. And thank you for your service, sir.

I am a VN vet with lower leg and feet nerve damage by AO. I have minimum feeling in my feet and missing left big toe (harley shifting toe). I do miss a shift once in awhile. The other thing I have problems with due to the feeling loss is clearing the foot boards at stops. Due to the lack of feeling it is easy to catch a foot on the board when stopping.

I have to be careful but will continue riding as long as can do it safely.

Ride on brothers.

I have greatly reduced feeling in my toes, Docs have said from age and weight and shrinking of the material in the bottom of my feet compressing the nerves. Now I wonder if there could be an AO connection, will have to check into that. Movement doesn't seem affected, though. Left foot doesn't lift as high as the right, but that's from snapping an achilles tendon 30 years ago. I have occasional misses trying to shift the forward peg on my 1200, but the heel/toe shifter on my Glide gives me no trouble.

Buddy of mine lost a leg due to cancer caused by Agent Orange. Get it checked. VA covered everything.
