Default Bike opinions

Hey,

Just finished my MSF course and will be getting my license tomorrow. Ive been doing some research on purchasing a bike and which bike I would like. I really like the Fatboy Lo and my second choice would be the Street bob. Ive been looking on ebay and craigslist at both (more so the Fatboy Lo). A lot of the Fatboys are around 13-15k. Ive also looked at the classifieds here. Is there any other place I should be looking. Should I wait another couple of months for the winter time? Will prices start to drop? Are these 2 reasonable bikes to start with. I originally likes the 883 Iron but people keep telling me I will quickly outgrow it.

The bike will be more weekend rides to start but I think I wouldn't mind taking it to the office and using it more often. I know there is a HOG where I live that takes trips each Saturday. Later on I might consider doing some benefit rides (911 ride, breast cancer...) Im very close with my godsons grandfather who is a blue knight and would be going for rides with him and his buddies.

Thanks any input would be greatly appreciated.

Rent both to see what you enjoy more. I bought a Street Bob after " knowing" I had to have a Fat Boy Lo. They are both great, but the SB tripped all my triggers.

If you look around you can find some good used bikes with low mileage for 8-12k (what I call garage queens, someone buys a bike and it sets in their garage) depending on the model. Go to all the local hd dealers website and search used bikes. example in my area 2006 fatboy w/10k miles for 11,6k black but always negotiable

go to the damn dealer, ride some bikes, and decide on feel, not on how they look sitting on the stand. that would be the ultimate mistake

Take a few for test rides. You'll be sorry if you don't.

I think you might want to do more a little more research especially if you are thinking about getting a 600 lbs Harley as your first motorcycle.

Why not a bike from the Dyna family? Best all-around bike HD makes. I imagine it would be especially good riding around Long Island.

Yes, there is a dealer in Beaver Dam, WI, but it seems like an awfully long trip when there are probably closer ones to check out.
