Default Should I.......

I sold my 95 Low Rider a few weeks ago to help pay for repairs on my truck. I let it go for bottom dollar and the repairs weren't as high as I thought they would be. I got lucky I guess. Well now I have no ride. I was planning to upgrade to a Road King or Street Glide but that won't be happening for a good long while. But I want to get out and ride!!! I have the funds for a really nice 1200c that I found on Craigslist. Should I grab the 1200 and ride it til the wheels fall off and I have the funds for the bike I actually want? Anyone ever been in the same situation?

How about riding the 1200 until you have the funds for the bike that you really want, without waiting for the wheels to fall off?

Or you could use that money and put a down payment for a road king! If you have the money for monthly payments of course!

I avoid car/truck/bike payments. I pay cash for nearly everything. Saving money isn't hard. I just want to get out and ride now!!! Looks like some others would do the same thing. And no, I would sell it before the wheels fell off.

I'd wait and get what I wanted, not a substitute.

OK, the immediate goal is to get you riding again. How about a 3rd option. Why not buy a used metric now instead of the 1200C, and stash the left over money towards the RK? It's not ideal but you'll be riding right now for a lot less cash than the Sporty, and you'll get a jump on the funds for the King. Just something to think about.....

Something else will brake or cause a unexpected payment or Bill... if you don't have the funds to cover such a event then you don't have enough for a bike.

Why do you avoid payments? Interest rates are super low and borrowing money is almost free. Only an idiot turns down free money.
