I've been a clean freak with all my bikes, the side benefit is I've found problems before they became a problem by being a clean freak.

My girlfriend calls my bike cleaning "Fingering". She tells her friends "Oh, Tom is out in the garage fingering his bike". I guess her name comes from using my index finger with a rag wrapped around it pushing in and out of all the nooks and crannies.
I do this during the week instead of watching TV. This has been a form of relaxation for the past 30 years. Everyone can be watching the game and....where's Tom? Oh, he's out fingering his bike.
That said, my bike isn't the cleanest because I ride it rain or shine all the time. Some people spend so much time cleaning their bike that we laugh at them when a cloud rolls over and we see people getting on their bikes to rush home before it rains.
Come on........................you know who you are. I bet there are some of them people reading this right now

I was wondering what sort of conversation I'll see when I open this thread
I ride my bike almost every day, but I try to avoid rain. A bit tricky thing to do in the UK, so I'm not always successful
I usually clear bugs of paintwork straight after the ride, clean the whole bike every 2-4 weeks, and clean in properly, waxing, polishing etc every month or two.
I like it when its clean and shiny, but I don't have much time for riding, so I prefer to ride it rather than clean it.

I try to clean my bike after each long ride because of the bugs. I only pressure wash it if they're really bad, like big grasshoppers. I don't wax it because of the matte finish.
