Default 2006 FLSTI new to us

Just brought this bike home. My wife likes this one better than our 09 Heritage Classic so I guess this one is hers now and the Classic mine LOL. The bike is mechanically sound but bought a 2 yr ext warranty thru HD too in case. The previous owner neglected the bike and a lot of rust on the chrome. A ton of work ahead. I can make an "in progress" thread if y'all want, but restore will be slow.

Here are a couple pics...sorry don't know how to resize yet..

did the shoe string with turtle wax chrome cleaner on a couple spokes to see the impact in between rain showers...works good. Some bad spots I will have to get more aggressive.

Looks good to me. Not crazy about either of your tie-down points.

after doing a lot of looking all over the net for rust products, I ordered some StrongArm to see what that does. If it is a bust, then back to basics. Gotta get this puppy ready to ride.

It doesn't run? I'd address that first. That bike is in good shape. I wouldn't waste time trying to clean up the spokes, replace them. Congratulations!

runs like a champ....just rusty spokes, hubs, nuts, aluminum is discolored. All cosmetic. Replace spokes? I hope I can clean them....a lot cheaper.
