Default Which Entry in the Black Book Powerports Should be Used for a Private Sale

In the Black Book Powersports motorcycle pricing guide it lists five different prices. For example, for an '06 FXSTi that my brother in law is trying to sell, it lists:

Finance Advance: $7585
Average Retail: $9065
Auction wholesale: $7635
Clean Trade: $7135
Fair Trade: $6225

Do any of these entries offer guidance on what would be fair pricing in a private sale? If not, what website do you recommend using as an alternative and what entry on that website - NADA or Kelley? Also, on the Black book site, what is "clean" vs. "fair" trade? THanks.

G'day,

Vinish

i'm not an expert, but i would expect if i was buying it that the price would be about 1/2 between clean trade and average retail. as far as condition goes, clean would be in good shape with no work needed, while fair would be needing a little work or have some cosmetic damage.

Yep, about halfway between clean trade and average retail, depending on location.

Finance Advance is the amount that a lending institution will most likely loan someone on that particular vehicle.

For a private party sale, I'd expect to get more than auction wholesale, and wouldn't go much below finance advance unless I really, really wanted to sell.

None. Every sale and bike are different.
