Question

I am having a terrible exhaust pipe hest issue. I was thinking of removing them myself and having them ceramic coated. Is this difficult? And will I need to have it re-tuned? It looks like and easy fix but getting into tuning... is above my capability I think. Does anyone have any recommendations or input? Mike

You don't need to tune a bike after you coat the pipe.

Easy project...hardest part would be tackling rusted mount/clamp bolts. Nothing to tune as you're not making major mod.

No tune needed. You're not changing the volumetrics of the intake/exhaust by any discernible amount.

Thank you everyone. I just wasn't sure if coating the pipes might redirect or hold hest in pipes. Makes my choices easier. I'm leaning toward removing pipes andhaving them ceramic coated inside and out and then reinstalling myself. Does anyone have a recommendation as toa r equitable shop to send?

Also I assume I do heat shield as well?

One of the easiest mchanical things you can do with your bike is remove and install exhaust.

I'm new so please excuse all my questions. If I decide to change the stock mufflers and air filter on the bike is that something I can do? And will that require tuning?

Get ready for a heated debate.

Depends on the bike. If it's a newer one, imo the ECM will compensate for such minor changes and no tune is required.

If you can remove your exhaust, you can certainly attack a slip-on job as well as AC. On a scale of 1-10 I give it a 2.

I would not ceramic coat the heat shields.

You are doing this only because of "heat" issues?

A vendor here provides a solution that sits between the pipe and your seat.
