I was riding in town today and there was a Budget rental truck next to me. A guy driving a rental truck is not a professional driver, so I was using a bit more caution than normal. Sure enough he started drifting over into my lane, he didn't even know I was there. Didn't cause me any problems, but it may have if I hadn't been ready for it.

I make it a point to never hold position next to anything especially a truck. Professional driver or not if I'm in their blind spot they don't know I'm there so can't blame them for moving into my space.

Get around them ASAP, all trucks and cars too if possible.
That's when most of your accidents happen, in packs of traffic.

Really? Just curious where you get your facts. I know quite a few professional drivers that have rented trucks for personal use. Me included.
Just another little fact for you to digest. Professional drivers make mistakes also. Seen a lot of them do that too.
Best advice? NEVER stay alongside ANY other vehicle!

I have seen many professional tractor trailer drivers drifting all over the highway . I pull next to them and there on the damn cell phone texting or talking. Crazy
Thanks for heads up, a good reminder.

Yup, stuff like this happens every day....I could post several "almost got whacked" posts per day. Two good ones yesterday...car, and heard of deer.

But yeah...always be alert.

They do not have a sign on the side saying that they are professional so, I simply do not trust ANY of them. I get out of there to a spot where I know they can see me....unless they are blind or distracted......or both!

The difference between a professional driver and Joe blow is one gets paid to drive and the other one doesn't.

Never hold a position beside either one, that's just asking for trouble.
