Default Shovelhead kicker

Why does my kicker clutch spring come loose and get wrapped up in kicker gear after about a year? It's done it twice now.

Which end is coming loose?
The part on the inner area that has a 90* bent tab breaking?
Or the part on the outer end of the spring with the turnback that hooks around the stud?

I think he's talking about the spring behind the ratchet gears. Worn bushings?

The sprig behind the clutch gear has broken twice in a years time. Each time I replaced with new spring, new gear, clutch, and bushing .

Buy better quality gears & springs , not kidding. The usual cheap import crap gives out way too fast as your finding out the hard way the springs are total junk son't fit right and bind up, the bushing is made out of peanut butter and ratchet teeth won't last 3 seasons if you use it regular.
