Default Riding in WI with an IL permit

Question. If it's even allowed, what are the state laws regarding riding in Wisconsin on an Illinois permit? A group of us are riding over the weekend and will likely travel up into Wisconsin several times over the weekend and have a new rider that wants to come along. I can't find anything addressing this on either state's DMV or DOT websites. Any help on the laws or where I could find them would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

A valid license or permit in one state should be valid in all 50 states and DC.

Open carry is legal in Wisconsin, so as soon as you enter the state, you can open carry. Wisconsin does not recognize the CCW permit from Illinois yet.

I was asking about a learners permit. Not a CCW permit. Could this get moved back to where it might get the appropriate answer please. Thanks.

DOH!! My bad. Certainly. If you have a valid permit in any other state it should be good in Wisconsin.

Thanks. For both the move and the info. I'd hate to have her get hung up if there were any kind of issue because of a permit technicality. A second part to the question. Do the issuing state's restrictions still apply? The restrictions here in IL for a permit is they must be with a rider over 21 or at least one year of riding experience and can't be out after dark. I don't think either will be an issue since we all lost sight of 21 in the rear view years ago and we like to try and be in before deer o'clock. But you never know, things happen.

If I recall correctly she needs a helmet when operating in WI on a permit.
