Starter switch issue
Was almost home yesterday, stopped at a light, and heard a loud grinding from the primary side of the bike. Only lasted a second or two, and I thought WTF!!! Light changed and I started forward, it did it again, stopped, did it again, so I pulled over and shut 'er down. Was sitting on a side road and turned the kill switch back on and the bike started up (without pushing the starter switch). Pretty much figured at that point the starter circuitry was the problem. So I nursed it home coasting most of the way. When I got it home, I messed with it a bit and if I wiggled the starter switch, the starter would kick on and off. Couldn't duplicate today, but seems like the throw on the switch is really short. Don't think it's the relay, I'm thinking the relay would either be stuck open or closed. Ordered a new switch assembly, should be in next week. Dealer says not a common problem, thoughts????

R2 starter/kill switch assy (and starter relay cause at $5 it didn't make sense not to). Cracked primary open and inspected pinion gear and flywheel/clutch basket gear, no damage. Flushed out primary and cover, reassembled and ops chk good, red X cleared. Love it when a plan comes through!!!!!!!
