I'm thinking of possibly going with the black denim paint on a new Harley but a friend said it's not so easy to maintain. I figured all the time I spent on polishing chrome over the years I could have been riding!!!! if I black-out the bike i'll just have to occasionally give it a quick wash and get back on the road. would like to hear your experience with black denim

Had a 2010 Denim Low. I was very happy with the denim paint. Easy to take care of, I liked the look. Just do not wax it as that will ruin it. Use a product specially for the denim, or Windex which works great.

The only con is if it gets a scratch or blemish it's there to stay. Other then that it's easy to take care of. Most of the time I just wipe 'em down with HD Denim paint cleaner. You can also use Windex. Both my bikes are Black Denim. Wouldn't have it any other way.

I really like the color. The pain is a little delicate. You will get some minor scratches etc. I like the patina. If you are a spotless, rub it shiny at every gas stop kinda guy you probably don't want it.
It is really easy to clean. If it's really dirty give it a quick soap and water wash, followed by spray on, wipe off with the HD denim cleaner or similar.

I think it's pretty easy to maintain, I usually wash it with some soapy water, or if it's just a few spots wipe down with windex. I didn't use the windex for a while at first because I thought it would make it shiny, but after I did I felt like it actually looked flatter. The only marks on my paint are on the rear fender where the previous seller had a fender bib, it kind of has a satin outline of where it was rubbing, but my 2 up seat covers most of it.

I doubt that, I think there will always be some people who want flat black paint even if the "fad" passes. I have always liked flat black cars, and wouldn't want my bike any other way. If I ever get a road glide someday, it will be denim black as well.
