I was at a charity event a few weeks ago. The event was for someone who had worked in the community for his whole life and close to retirement but had some medical issues. In reality, they did not seem life threatening and he did have insurance but friends and family wanted to help with what was going to be some major bills for tests and what not. I am not judging, for me it was just about getting out and riding anyway, so if I can help someone out...maybe that adds a little Karma for me later.

Part of this event was a motorcycle ride which had a police escort which means we were able to run stop signs and red lights (I know, cool right?). There were about 50+ bikes in this ride so it was pretty cool being at the back and seeing an ever seemingly endless line of cool bikes in front of me.

Everything was going great and cars were pulling over because of the escorts were waving them to do so..... then…..one of the people in the cars gets out and puts her hand over her heart. At that moment I realized....people think this is a funeral. OMG!!! Not only that, they think it's a funeral for a veteran!!! OMGx2!!

While the cause was noble, it was hardly worth a salute or a hand over heart, we were just trying to help a dude pay his deductible. Hell, we were headed to a bar for goodness sake. At that point I felt I was fooling the public and taking away from real funerals for Veterans.

It was a fun ride though.

Why when I copy something from Word to this form does it run words together and when I try to edit there is nothing there? Weird.

It's nice that she was aware of her surroundings, however misguided. Some people think their texting or breaking through a procession is more important than what anyone else is doing.

On PGR missions, I've seen lots of caring people do that at intersections as we pass by. Good for them, and thanks.

Yep, definitely was nice to not have someone cutting in between bikes (although it did happen that day) and showing respect even though it wasn't deserved, whaever she was thinking counts.

It's good to know some people still show respect for a funeral.

You fool someone with the distinct purpose of fooling them = shame on you

You fool someone because they misunderstood and it wasn't your intent = no shame on you.

You can't control what others think. You can try, you can even come real close...but in the end, everyone is in control of only what they think themselves.

At least they stopped and showed some respect, whatever the cause.

South Florida Ride for Kids is a great charity ride every year. Small and police escorted through town. Fun ride, great cause.

Yea I wouldn't let this worry me to much. So the lady misunderstood...no harm in that. Then again maybe you misunderstood her. Could be she just has a habit of putting her hand there when she sees something exciting. Who knows
