Several years ago, I was riding in group when I started smelling gasoline. I was next to a buddy and thought he was leaking gas and signaled to him. He looked at my bike and said I was and, since I had leather chaps on, didn't realize gas was pouring from my tank line onto my leg. Had to get towed to the dealer for a fix. I had JUST gotten my bike out of the shop having had my tank repainted. Yep...O-ring. I didn't realize until I read Road Warrior's post that you can't get them from the dealer. What's up with THAT???
I’ve changed the o rings and got new lines and changed o rings again still leaks from the threads
When you say its leaking from the threads are you meaning the female part that screws into the tank? If so there is an o-ring on that part and it can also leak. It is a little more involved repair for this part.
New position on old o-rings maybe. But lots of times, people pop it with out letting pressure drop or pulling the fuelpump fuse. That rocks that upper ring.
What does the service manual say for new Harleys without a fuelpump fuse?
