19" Ape Hangers...Cable Length

Default 19" Ape Hangers...Cable Length
2006 WG. Came with stock 10" mini apes. I am putting 19" RSD vintage king ape hangers on the bike. My indy mechanic mocked up the bars and told me to order 12" over stock length. Does this sound right to you guys?
