Default factory installed oil filter tip

after what I went through to get the oil filter off on my new FLHTPI, my tip to all new H-D DIY owners......buy the K&N or similar socket/lug type oil filter. it will make your filter removals so much easier. I could not get anything on the filter, except the HD cut out filter wrench ( cut out for primary case sensor). the filter was on so tight from the factory, that I had to use a breaker bar. since you will only use the H-D filter wrench once, pass it on to another. I was amazed how they bury the filter. i would also be curious to find out how many ft. lbs. they torque the filters on at York.

Or use any oil filter you like, but remember to lube the gasket...it will come off no problem. Even if you crank it on tight.

Would an old school oil filter strap wrench work? I am going to change my oil this weekend and I bought the HD filter and can already tell the oil filter socket cap I have that fits, won't get past the sensor. I am trying to spend my money wisely if I have to buy a tool to do it. I don't want to go ghetto and stab it with a screwdriver. Too much can go wrong and its just a poor practice for anything but emergencies.

Default aint going to lie....

it was bad. nothing would go on the filter, w/o hitting something. only the H-D wrench. I put K&N socket wrench filter on. You probably have exact set up I have..on my FLHTPI 13'

I just bought one of these for $5, will give it a shot this week. Anyone tried one of these? I test fitted it on the filter and seems like it should work.
