Default 2002 ultra

what would cause a 2002 ultra to flood out when it is first started up cold? it runs very good once it warms up and gets good gas mileage so it is not rich all the time. it is a stock 88CU with 203 cams a SE air cleaner kit and CVO slip-on's.

Do you know what calibration is loaded in the ECM? If it's an 88" with 203's and someone loaded a 95" map with 203's, that would run rich.

I have owned the bike from new, and I put the cams in so there is just the factory calibration in it.

The factory calibration is not designed for 203 cams. You're actually probably running lean in most areas.

Did you just do this and the problem occurred or have you been running it like that since 2002?

Unfortunately there is no calibration available on the race tuner for that. If you want to keep the cams and at 88", then you will need a tuning device.

If you make it a 1550 with flat tops and stock heads there is a good map on the SERT for that (The early maps were actually pretty good). I just used an earlier tuner on my friends Ultra. If you decide to make it a 1550, let me know and I will send you the map.

Let me know if I can help you as you work through this.

There will be a million different opinions on the "best" device so be prepared if you go down the road of asking opinions.
