Default Detachable windshield question

Hello all. I have a 2010 roadking classic. On my detachable windshield on the left and right side are springs that look to serve no purpose whatsover. Ive looked it up and some people say bend em (to what?), take em off or have no idea whatsoever of there purpose like me. Im missing something here. I guess my question is, does anyone have a picture or link of what its supposed to look like when properly installed? I bought the bike 3 months ago and never had a detachable windshield till now. Any input would be apreciated. Thanks.

I don't worry about the springs. Grab it on the sides, slip the bottom brackets in and push the windshield on.

Yep, the wind actually keeps the shield from coming off. The only problem is that they are easy to steal or it could blow off if you go very fast in reverse

If you are referring to the wire springs on each side, mine slip under the top bolt to hold the windshield down and prevent it from coming off accidentally.
