Default engine light on and loss of power

Bike cranks up great. seems to warm up great. Shifting into 3rd, the engine light comes on and speedometer goes to 0. Sometimes bike shuts off, sometimes not. It starts right back up and we return home. Have only taken him around the block a few test runs, since this started. I've replaced the spark plugs, checked the air filter, Put Sea Foam in the tank. He's garage kept, I'm the only rider. The battery is new and our dealership isn't open on Sunday.

Would help to know what bike you have, mileage, mods, etc.
If the engine light comes on the bike probably threw a code, so check for those.
Not all new batteries are installed fully charged, but you should check the cables at the battery terminals and also at the ground connections.

Sounds like it could be the speed sensor when mine went bad on my 2010 ultra it did all kinds of funny stuff.back fired, stalled at red light , no speedo, blinkers would not self cancel, odometer wouldn't work, no cruse.

same as mine on sunday its the 02 sensors messing with the ECU lit up like a xmas tree
on a 11 reg STREET GLIDE 103 picking it up tomorrow been told 11 fault codes also told it does not need a fuel pack if you have Remus exhausts has any one else heard that
as 8 fault codes were caused by fuel pack

What fuel pack do you have? If you have the old style that is piggy backed on the eco. I had one on my 2010 ultra if you call Vance and Hines and get a ram to send it in and get checked they found that mine was bad and gave me a deal on a new FP3 and buddy I'm telling you what a difference my bike has never ran so good

What's it doing now? If you have changed exhaust and intake air you need fuel management when I was having problems with my original Fuelpak it wouldn't show up until about 30 to 45 minutes into my ride then sometimes if I let it sit for a bit it was fine for anouther 30 minutes. When I finally convinced v&h that I needed to be checked the gave me a rma to send it in the initial computer check showed it was ok then being the stand up company that they are the last test was they put it on a bike and took it for a ride and that's when they admitted it was bad

Default 103

mike its a 2011 street glide 103 its got Remus exhaust and a standard air cleaner.
after it had been in HD gateshead they said it had been on a road test, i then find out they did about 600yds on it.
i took it 1- 2 mile and same again no throttle.
They took off the V & H FUEL pack and claim it took off all the fault codes and would be fine.
load of bollocks mike

Did your speedo quit working? I had a few problems with mine at the same time I was having problems with my Fuelpak I never figured out if they were related I know the speed sensor reports to the ecm
