Default Chock or vise?

For those who use a lift table, what do you use to secure your front wheel? A ride in wheel chock or a vise? How do you like it?

I started out with a chock but changed over to a vise to facilitate front wheel removal. The chock was handy, but didn't suit my needs.

Vise, so you can get the front wheel off easily...

K&L Chock. Jack the front end up, loosen the hold down bolts and it slides out of the way.

I prefer a wheel vice but it need to typically needs be modified. I removed the hand-wheel and made a knurled disk that you use your foot to open and close the clamp. That way you can open the vice all the way with your foot by simply spinning it with your foot. You can also close it quickly with a quick bump or 2, then drive it tighter with your foot while holding up the bike. I generally don't tie the bike down. I use a flat scissors jack under the frame to hold the bike upright..

This was Rev A.. Rev B is smaller and wider so you can hey a bit more velocity on the spin..

I'm really surprised that on the wheel chocks that no one has added a arm of some sort to kick out the wheel when trying to remove. Something you can step on.. I've got an older Kendon scissors lift with wheel chock. Its a royal pain to get the bike out of the chock even with 2 people. I plan on making something to pop the wheel out for it..

My lift came with a vise which works fine for me, but the best thing I have done to my lift is add Boatbuckles retractable straps to all 4 corners. I also added one of the lift loops to my frame under the steering head since there was already a perfect hole for it.

Here's a video I made this afternoon so you could see how well the tie downs work. I just got thru mowing the lawn and had about 8 beers and my 3 helpers were present during filming, so forgive me it isn't perfect.
