Default clutch cable release

Cant figure out how to release the clutch cable once the derby cover is removed on a 2007 Nightster. I cant seem to twist the holder enough to get the cable to release. How is this supposed to be done?

At least on the RK, if your looking at the clutch cable as it enters the cover, on the insdie of the cover, there is a honkin big c-clip holding the round clutch cable ratainer piece. Remove the c-clip (goto auto store and buy a tool for $15), raise the top half of the ramp (round piece that holds the cable end) and you will get the rotation you need to remove the cable. THere are 3 ball bearings under the top half of the ramp so hold the cover level when you take off the top half off so those basterds dont get away from you.

derby cover or tranny side cover? Did you collapse the adjuster at the downtubes? Are you adjusting clutch or replacing cable?

i figured it out. The six sided nut is held in by a spring, it is just supposed to fall off and because of oil it was not doing that on its own. After a few minutes of sitting there more and running the screwdriver over parts while i was thinking, it slid off. Thanks for the help everyone.
