Help Burnt microfiber cloth on painted exhaust!
#11
It's amazing what the magic erasers will remove! Used one to get burnt boot rubber off my pipes once. That and elbow grease.

Well, I just did the same thing, melted blue microsoft on black heat shields. So I did do the fine steel wool on both a hot and cooled down pipe. Helped abit but not much. So with the pipe cooled I tried this, I had an exacto knive (brand new), so very sharp blade and carefully just scraped the melted stuff off. Used the tip of blade mostly. Didn't seem to leave any scratches and it looks way better. Good Luck

I melted a piece of rainsuit on my chrome exhaust shield a couple years ago. (I've done that on every bike since 1980). Never bothered me, but doing some other work I thought I would try to remove it. I coated it the melted stuff with "Back to Nature" Ready Strip Safer Paint Remover. I let it sit as per instructions then wiped it off. Most came off, so put another coat on and brushed lightly with Brass Bristle brush. Couple more coats and it was clean. No scratches on the chrome or discoloration. I'm not saying this is the best way. I figured I had nothing to lose because I am thinking of painting the shields black anyway.
