Default Gas tank seat gap

After fitting the new tank i now have a gap between the tank & the seat has anyone had ths problem before & how have you resolved it, One thought i had was to have a tank bib made up with a false piece that came down to the front of the seat & curved around the nose of the seat.
I spoke to a friend of mine who is an upholsterer & he was going to see if he could work something out, I am open to other suggestions , ideas as i would like to have a smooth flow rather than the gap that is there.

I had that problem on my FXR and I had my dad who does leatherwork peel the cover off and shave down the bottom of the front of the seat base to allow it to lay flat on the tank like they do on the touring bikes.

The problem i have is the tank i fitted is six inches shorter than stock, am going to try & move mounting brackets & see if that will work
