I have a 2001carbureted Fatboy. I have to replace the gas tank due to damage.

I found a fuel injected tank at a good price.

Will this gas tank work?

I found a petcock kit but what can I do about the top plate?

Will my fuel gauge fit/work in this tank?

I am looking for a fuel tank myself for a 98 fatboy and was wondering the same thing......what size gallonage is the one you found as I want to change mine because it is too small. Do you mind if I ask how much you paid I don't seem to fine any around.

 

I have a recent efi tank on my 1990 Glide. I'm not familiar with the top plate on the FB tanks, but I have the correct one for mine, I just don't have any efi stuff on it! I have a Pingel tap and converter for my carb supply.

 

The fuel tanks for 2000 and later are different than the `99 and earlier.

`99 and earlier have dual tanks.

There were two different fuel tank capacities on the `99 and earlier bikes.

FLST, FLSTC, FLSTF (16 in front tire models) and FLSTS (springer) used the smaller tanks (4.2 gal).

FXST Softail and FXSTC Softail Custom had the larger tanks.
