Default Rattle and Knocking from the Engine of my new Street Bob

Just bought a brand new Street Bob 2014 model. It's my first Harley so I'm new to them. Still running it in and it's only done just over 700 Kilometers. When cruising at 2000 revs in any gear I'm hearing a constant rattle and I'm guessing it's from the rockers. Was wondering if this is normal? With it being brand new I’m thinking it’s not but I need advice please.

Also, I'm hearing a knocking sound when the engine slows down if I blip the throttle. This is also noticeable when I'm riding and coming to a stop while changing down through the gears. Sounds like a mechanical knock but it might be the Engine Pinking. Does anyone have any advice on this one too?

Cheers

2000 rpm is too low for cruizing. What your hearing is more than likely caused from lugging the motor. Id stop blipping the throttle unless your only doing it during agressive downshifts when you need to bring up the rpm to match your speed. Are you running at least 91 octane?

i'm gonna bet what you are hearing is the compensator rattling. 2000 rpm's is the lowest for cruising. either downshift or speed up. you can always take it to the dealer and ask them to listen to it.

I have to say, I'm surprised at all of the rattling and pinging from my brand new 2014 Dyna Fat Bob. And I am pretty certain that I have less torque each day. Up to 200 miles now and it feels half as torky as it did on day one.

The "pinging" sounds a LOT like my old 77 cutlass when it was way too over-compressed and I couldn't get ultra. But I'm using the highest octane I can get (91 or 87, depending on the station).

Maybe this is normal... maybe not.

I'll take Hardheaded's advice and let the guys at Harley take it for a ride and see what they think. But to me, it isn't right.
