I bought a pair of waterproof gauntlets from HD last summer, on the road in Indiana. We were cruising out to Sturgis getting killed in some serious "Ohio Valley" rain. They worked, very well. No leaking at all, my hands were dry. The issue came when the sun came back out, way too much glove for sunshine. But the rain gear sucks at that point as well and you need to pull over and take some layers off. I have worn them at least six times in various types of rain, dry and warm hands every time.

HD gloves, they work.

Have a pair of landscaper gloves from wal mart. They have good grip when wet and dry fast.

Get diver's gloves from a scuba shop - have some that are over 16 years old and they still work. Probably now, as then, they are somewhat pricey.

I got some gauntlet waterproof gloves from First Manufacturing. They're great for keeping your hands dry (I rode thru a downpour for a few hours, and my hands were bone dry), but I would consider them more of a cold weather glove. You're in Texas, so they may not be the right glove for you. But for up here, especially now, they're great for those 40 degree mornings.
