Its damn near all the roads in Illinois could it be because there's no money to repair them because its where the Politicians buy their Governorship or they get supported by the State for improper misappropriations and Schools are closing down and the Lottery is broke and so on and so on and then they make gambling legal so they can get their wallets fat, then its going to be weed, so they are the one's that will make Lotteries, Gambling, marijuana, next I'm going out on a Limb, Prostitution legal as long as they get their share, but there is still no budget and the State is broke??????????????????? REALLY !!! Sorry went on a rant.

Took a run up IL RT 26 from Peoria area with final destination of Starved Rock. Got as far as Granville and hit big storm. Came back south a little different route. Compared to most roads in Peoria area, Rt. 26 is really nice mostly new pavement running along the river.

Ok, I admit, there are a few decent roads, they are just few and far between! I did find a nice one I didn't know about before last weekend. My son and I took the Elwin road (main st.) west out of Mt. Zion, then took a short jog on 51 and 48 to get to the Mt. Auburn road. Wow! It's fantastic. Smooth blacktop, maybe one or two stops in 50 miles. Pretty country setting. As you get closer to Rochester, there are a number of wide sweeping curves. It was fantastic.

Nice ride discovered in Central IL

I wrote that one down (south of I-72) for future reference. We are heading up for an overnight run to Galena in a couple of weeks, plus sometime in the next two weeks we want to do a run down the Illinois River from Peoria to Alton and back. My buddy and I are both visiting up here on our TG's. I go back in less than a month, he stays a little longer. We have a ton of riding still to do.

Plan a stop at Buckhart Tavern, and in Springfield Sunset Inn.

We are heading down the Illinois River towards Beardstown today, then we will cross over and make our way back north to the Germantown Grill in Germantown Hills. They have the best pizza around and on Mondays it is half price. Beer is cheap too!

Wednesday we are heading up to Woodstock. Someone told us he is the biggest Harley dealer in Illinois. US Rt. 24 and Rt. 47 aren't the most interesting routes but maybe the pavement will be good.

How is I-57 over your direction? Heading from Peoria to Florida next month and can't decide on going over to I-57 and down or heading down on I-155 to I-55.
