Default 1975 HD sidecar to a 2006 Roadking

Hi, I just bought an original 1975 Harley sidecar in great shape and need help or info.
Is there any special mounting hardware I need to buy to adapt to a new frame, looks like everything that came with it wont fit my frame. Has anyone ever adapted a side car like that?

It will probably be a lot of work but I think it can be done. Google "Harley sidecar installation instructions". This will give you a lot of different PDF files with part numbers for different years. You should probably get a sidecar service manual for the year of your bike. What type of hardware is on the ends of the sidecar frame? I think the newer sidecars are different than what yours has. The newer ones have rod ends and the bike side mounts have clevises that these rod ends fit into. Does yours have a socket which a ball fits into? The ball would be on the bike side mount. You will probably have to adapt the newer style rod ends to your sidecar to work with the newer bike side mounts. There are a lot of other things that need to be done to the bike but the installation instructions will explain that. Good luck.

I alreafy have a sidecar on my bike, selling it and the mounting gear and going to this older harley one, went to the harley dealer, they said buy a proper mounting kit for the bike so that the places where the sidecar is going to attach will be solid and not damage the bike, then just modify the sidecar to suit.... Looks like a few mods on the sidecar and it will be ok, a winter project

Hope you had luck on getting your sidecar mounted.

I purchased a 72 era sidecar for my 1999 Road king. The toughest issue was to figure out the mounting kit. I suggest you buy the Sidecar service manual for the year of your bike and in it will be a chart that lists previous years sidecars and the mounting kit that is needed for your bike. Yours will be a bit more involved as the newer bikes have a sensor that must be dealt with, which I didn't have to mess with.

I have mine up and running on my bike and the dog is loving it and wants to go every where I go.

Going to a dealer will not be much help and talking to the factory is a hit an miss thing, it depends on who you talk to.
