Ghost wheels vs trike conversion
Evening fellow riders!!! I currently having difficulty deciding on what to do with my 2008 Electra Glide Standard. I am a disable veteran and I am unable to hold up my bike anymore due to my leg and back having nerve damage. It is depressing that my girl is sitting in my garage collecting dust and I can't even ride it. I been looking for options to be able to ride again. I looked at possibly ghost wheels or even a trike conversion. Is one better then the other? I really don't want to sell her but if I have to then I guess I have too. Any suggestions on what I can do or if ghost wheels or trike conversion is better? I appreciate your guys time.

seen some nice trike kits, road smith or on a budget frankenstien. imo the kits are better than a triglide they give ya independent rear suspension. the ghost wheels do u mean the kit that adds 2 outrigger wheels? if so they will keep ya upright but… u can get stuck by "bridging" the center wheel. also take a look at "landing gear" haven't rid in with it but it looks interesting..

A friend of mine just looked into all of his options for his 08 Electra glide classic. The ghost wheels were the least expensive option and he found the 2 biggest drawbacks was adding reverse was a huge expense, and like stated above, having the rear wheel bridge.
When looking at trike kits, they got as expensive or even more costly than buying a factory trike. He ended up trading for a low milage 2012 triglide. He is very happy with it.

The triglides are OK, but I prefer a conversion. IRS is better than a straight axle and I wouldn't pay a dime for electric reverse. If you have a great running bike now that you love, convert it. When I was "shopping" for a trike, I test rode several and honestly, the Triglide was probably the worst handling trike I tested. I only rode a Roadsmith, CSC, Champion, the Tri, and a Lehman. Regardless which way you go, you are talking about a couple thousand difference between converting and getting a triglide. I converted with a Champion and I have zero regrets. Mechanical reverse is the way to go and so is IRS. By the way, there are many quality conversions available. Champion, Roadsmith, Hannigan, CSC, and a couple others all make really high quality conversion kits.

Thank you all for all the inputs
Thanks everyone! This gives me some ideas and different avenues to try. My bike runs great, unfortunately I have only 12000 miles on it due to health problems. Riding is one of the few things that I can do to think and regroup myself. Once again, thanks for all the inputs.
