Default Pulling a Trailer - Rushmore Version

Although I have been riding for over forty years, the new bike is my first ever Harley. It is a 2015 Ultra Classic - Low. Air Shocks are already installed. I also have the air cooled version.

I have pulled trailers with my motorcycles around this country for years. It is my intent with the new bike, as well. So, there are a few questions.

I use and will continue to use 20W-50 Full Synthetic in the engine. But, what about the rest of the oil lubs. Opinions about other lubs would be appreciated?

I am a little concerned about the fuel mixture being so lean. Any opinions about a fuel kit or leaving it alone?

Don't have any intentions of doing much modification, except for what might be necessary for trailering at this point.

Thanks for your input.

I have a stock 2011 Ultra that seems to pull my Aspen Sentry pop-up camper without too much trouble. All I did was install a hitch and wiring harness. I do plan to wire up the electric brakes on the trailer this winter. Easily have pulled it a couple thousand miles and just last 10 days I traveled 2800 miles with it.

You probably don't "need" to do anything different than stock. But, if you want to accelerate and pull hills faster, you might want to wake it up with a stage 1. Oil would also follow, whatever you want to do, trailering shouldn't change that decision.

But...some dealers may be a PITA for warranty work if you have a trailer hitch.

Trailer hitch voids drive train warranty period...
If you find a dealer that tells you otherwise, get it in writing!
