lots of options for sure, i plan using my compact 25 lb bags of steel shot i used in Pa's snowey winters in my older rear wheel drive cars i preferred until gas went nuts $$$$

 

My go to weight was a patio umbrella base filled with sand or cement. Make sure it has a built-in handle.

I carry a soft tool bag with tools (bag about 14" long x 10" h/w) behind the seat+ a 1 gal spare fuel container (full). Under seat small jack, spare tube/plug kit,tire irons, bead breaker, 12v air pump, shop manual, and spare box of ammo. All total of about 50-60 lbs. Still have lots of room for other gear if needed. On longer trips I add a small survival bag/drinking water. If I carry extra weight , I feel it may as well be of some use? I do tend to get carried away for present times (but in the late 60's thru 80's this stuff saw more use) and I can't seem to change ! Here in Montana and surrounding states , one can get a pretty far piece from "service"!
