Default Ultra//Trailer/ Wiring ??s

A ?? for all you Ultra/ Cargo Trailer Gurus........Here goes; On your bike do you use a converter to adapt the bike's 5 wire setup to the trailer's 4-wire ? (& if so, does it work ok & what converter ?) or

Do you just wire all 5wires to the trailer lights ? (and if so, what lights/LEDs? ) The only lights/LED I can find commercially available are the standard 4-wire variety...........

Since I'm basically wiring the trailer from scratch ; I'd prefer not to use an adapter & wire all 5 to the trailer & use LEDs...??

Thanks in Advance..........WD

My trailer's 4-wire/4-plug that plugs from Voyager kit to bike. When I plug the trailer to the bike all lights work but the brake light. Do I need a converter on bike to convert to 4-wire (trailer)? Some say yes, some say no. I have the aux module on bike for brake/turn signal/run lights. Will this conflict with a converter? Cargo-Mate has a converter that I should order?....thanks for any help you can give (I know nothing about electrical).

We use all 5 wires on our Ultra. The tail lights and brake light are together in the tail lights and then we installedseperate turn signal lights.

I've tried to post a resposce to ya Spudster a couple of times, but this forum keeps going into internet outer space on me!

Kuryakn makes a plug and play for your situation. I (very recently) found out that the turn signal to brake/turn/run converter has a load equalizer in it. The plug in goes right in line with that and is wired to the female plug on your bike. Quick and easy.

Appears that there's two threads going at the same time about wiring trailer to bike.

I initially used a converter but it caused major issues. I rewired my cargo trailer with a set of independent turn signals. This is alos like the set up on my aspen camper. So now, i am straight 5 wire from the bike to 5 wire on both trailers. No more rapid blinking turn signals when i disconnect the trailer harness. I use the Kury connector with my kury hitch.

JBH, did you install separate lights for turn signals ?
