2011 FLHTC with Hannigan Sidecar
Just returned from KY after having a Hannigan Sidecar (Classic Twin) installed on our 2011 FLHTC.
It is a very stable, good handling unit. Looks good. But we are very disappointed with the MPG. I knew we would take a hit but could have never imagined a drop of 43%. We have been averaging right around 40 MPG in town on our FLHTC (solo) and averaged 44 MPG on the 450 mile ride down to KY (95% interstate). We averaged 24.8 MPG on the return trip with the sidecar. Ouch!!!!
Had a few electrical problems that I am sure Hannigans will fix. Had to do the 450 mile ride home without cruise control, a luxury that I hate doing with out.
We found that we could easily do 600 miles per day without the sidecar, and perhaps the same with the sidecar; but the ride is much, much more enjoyable for the rider without the sidecar.

Hi Jackloganbill,
I recently had a Liberty sidecar installed on my 09 Street Glide and have about 4,000 miles on it now. My worst mileage is 38.5 and my best is 42.5. I don't ride fast, however I do run 65 plus on the open roads. My SG is a 96er and is stock. I can't even guess why your mileage is so low. It took some acclimation when I first started driving it, but it did not take long before I really began to enjoy the hack. My rig handles well also and I really have no gripes. Hope your mileage improves. Sam
