OP, I agree with some of the comments and obviously a 3/4 or 1 ton would be better, but there are some larger toy hualers out there you can tow with your 1/2 ton. I towed this with a 1/2 ton with a 5.4. It towed fine plenty of power. I didn't go into the mountains, so can't comment. I did pull it down to Branson into AR, and it handled those grades fine. It had a GVWR of #8800 and I towed it loaded at about #7500. The most important thing was to get the WD Hitch set up correctly. Having bikes in the back does affect towing.
