I know it's been awhile, but I forgot I started this thread. I did the SideCar by myself this past Spring and had help on obtaining parts and adjustments. Yes, exhaust had to come off for right rear passenger foot board because HD put the third bolt behind the pipe....geez, great idea...duuuhhh. Clutch cable had to be longer so it can get rerouted. Oil sending unit is now at a 90 degree. Take out your brake reservoir and mount the new one between the tubes. At rear brake switch you need to put in a "T" for the Car brake connection. Foot brake is replaced with a shorty one. All the parts cost me less than $350. Took me just over a month due to the weather being cold in my basement, other family things and my joints from kneeling etc. Adjusting was not to bad. The toe-in I had help with but is easy to do. Had to turn the eye bolts a few times but got it. The lean of 2 degrees was easy also but seemed like too much of a lean since I was seated far over to the right on the seat and the bike was tilted too far on the left. Couple of adjustments and it's fine now. Every week or so I'll do a check on the hardware and all the usual checks.
Right now I'm working on the lean over. The 2 degrees still seem too much and it seems I'm fighting the steering a lot trying to keep the bike from turning left a lot. So, I leaned the bike in just a little to test for this week. So far so good. I may lean it back a little out this Sunday and try that. The manual and Other literature I've read all say the "heavy HD" are set at 2 degrees lean out. Also, "2 degree's is about 3/4" ". My last adjustment was about 3/8".

Glad to hear you are getting it dialed in. Sometimes it's a process of trial and error, make an adjustment and see how it feels, then tweek the settings a little more.

I think I'm all set for now anyway. You need to take into consideration the road/s, highway/s with all different crowns and surfaces etc. I would adjust it one day and ride but then I hit the next state and those roads were either better or worse. So, all I was doing was adjusting after every other ride almost! The shop I work in is smooth cement floor and that's where I did my adjustments. You can see the tires how they are marked from the dirt on the floor which gives me a good look at how the tires meet the pavement.
All in all I got the adjustment where I want it. Thnx for the help and suggestions from All.
Be well and ride safe!

Yea, only a sidecar driver notices things like that! That's why some outfits make "electric trim" for sidecars, so you can adjust the lean as you go.

Once you have the side car mounted, consider taking the time and expense to locate a side car rider training course. Riding a side car rig is nothing like riding a motorcycle. But once you fly the chair with a passenger you're golden. And you'll be amazed who just climbs in the chair at a stop light...
