Looking at the Street 750 for possible purchase and want to upgrade the exhaust and intake with the Screamin Eagle package as soon as I get it. Is a tune needed with the Screamin Eagle package and if so what tuner will do the trick? It's not mentioned on the HD website that a tune will be needed.

 

Talk to the Dealer you're working with. They should know what you'll need or not for the 750.

 

Went and did that today and spoke with two reliable folks I deal with at the dealer. They both said the same thing, tune not needed and that's the good thing with these bikes because it keeps the cost down. I should make up my mind tomorrow once I see the out the door numbers on the price.

 

No. I put the SE kit in the breather and the instructions stated no tune needed.

No FI bike with closed loop and 0/2 sensors needs a tune for intake and exhaust. The HD has 9 various sensors that tell the ecm what is going on. When in closed loop it detects the afr periodically and if it does not match the programmed standard of 14.6 to 1 the ecm will adjust the afr back to the standard. So if you make a change and go for a ride within 1/2 to 2 hours the bike will correct the afr.

It is silly to pay for HD's stage one tune. It only advances the spark some and increases the rev limit some. It does not change the afr. The slight performance gain is from the spark advance and shifting at a higher rpm.

Read the HD parts manual on the various tunes. They do include a statement that the tunes do not change the afr.
