There's a reason they still own and ride an '83 Sturgis and an '84 WG...they're both old school cool pre-twinkie bikes (meaning a Shovelhead and an Evo). Has nothing to do with size or power of the bike.

Telling a new rider to go get a rocketship like that (imo hideous) VRod....why not just tell him to get a Hayabusa? Give him inside of 3 months to get over his head and wrap around a tree.

Crazy..todays kids want to go rush out and get a fast bike for their first ride. Gone are the days of learning "smart"....on something small...earn your right to get a larger bike, build your riding skills. Aside from dirt bikes as a kid, my first street bike years started on a mid 70's Honda sm400. Next..went to 650. Build your skills, live to ride something bigger as you progress.

I've never seen a Street on the street. If you don't mind the "holy cow depreciation", buy it.
IMO, you are better off and money ahead buying a Sporty.

I bought an 05 demo days Classic Springer. Never had an issue. Bike was perfect from the day I bought it until the day I traded it. It had 2500 miles on it. I saved a ton of cash. I sold it 3 years later for 500 less than my original purchase price. Don't let that scare ya. It has the factory warranty. I see a lot of guys with brand new 0 mile touring bikes back getting things fixed too.

If you're OK with the price and you like the bike buy it. Just take a riders safety course. When you pass that and get more comfortable take the advanced rider course. And most of all have fun.

Saw some good deals on the 2015 500 and 750s last Wednesday at the Gator Harley dealer here in Florida. 5995 for the 500 and about 7000 U.S. for the 750 and both had the premium paint color. They were not demo models.

Odd.... Have I outgrown my Street Glide then since I want a 72...?

OP, Have you taken any riding courses yet? You can get some ride time in on a Street 500 with an HD class. Try that out and once you have your permit/license take the 750 and a sporty or two for a ride. see what you think from there.

I will try to see if they can give me a further discount, I will not buy at this price. (Yes, I took the course and passed the exam)

Buy what you are comfortable with, no matter what you buy from a dealer, you are going to lose when you go to sell or trade.

most off the demo bikes from my dealer, get ridden by the dealer for a long ride first 200-400km, plus they are so expensive here no 18 year old comes and buy´s one, my demo iron 883 had 546km on the clock it cost around 20000 us dollars here in denmark. a brand new 2016 i around 25000(they upped the priez by 2000 for the 2016)

i like the engine from the street but being 6 foot 2 i can´t sit on it okey, plus i don´t like the controls they are very cheap looking.

now if they put that engine in the sporty
ps. i you like the street and you can ride it i say go, but the 2 ekstras if they are not on your personal plus list don´t pay for them i would not pay over 8500 cad for that demo bike. the discount is just not enough for me compared to a brand new one.
i got the demo bike be cause it was cheap and has 2 year warrenty, a 2009/10 model with out abs and alarm is not alot cheaper here in denmark
Regards
RIX

HD website advertises the Street 750's starting price at $7,549.00. My .02: I'd go new or maybe think about a used 883. The 883 would probably be a lot easier to sell down the road if/when you decide to upgrade
