Anyone who has NEVER seen an AMA sanctioned hill climb is missing out! My parents used to belong to a "Club" called the "Pleasure Riders" in Danville, Il. Their Club Grounds was south of town and had a MX track and hill, they did AMA sanctioned events. I have had the joy of watching those all through my youth! Weekends were FUN for sure! I would be a helper on the hill in my teens. Running out to help grab the bike when they didn't make it up.
Our hill was quite large too, one year it was going to be too muddy to do the event. They burnt a bunch of tires on it to dry it out! (I know,, not the "Greenest" thing to do on earth,, but back then it wasn't on every ones minds!) (This had to be early 70s,,)
Man,, that makes me want to go see one again now! It's been years and years since I have!

The movie "On Any Sunday" has some hill climb footage, but nothing as fast as that Harley.

Divacat, where are you in IL.? There is a club in Danville, IL. called "Pleasure Riders MC" they have an AMA hill and MX track and have a few events each year. I have been to several there years and years ago. Want to go back this summer I hope. I also want to catch Springfield Miles AMA race this summer.
