I know this might sound retarded or whatever, but after sitting here reading this thread I have my 2 cents to add.

Why does the mascot have to go to the rallies?

I can understand it if there were two mascots. One for PR (Rally attender) and the other (being the main mascot) should be the one that is truely a freespirited free roaming mascot.

Hey guys, I plan on going to Myrtle Beach this Friday due to Mother's Day I plan to return home on Sun May 14th. Since I'm off work on Mon and Tues (May 15 and 16th) I can take it up to Virginia Beach and get it headed North. It's just a thought may calm a few tempers to get it moving out of MB after three days. If you all want me to do it let me know....makes no difference to me I'm just offering my services and want to keep the peace. I look forward to seeing you all on Sat. at Broadway at the Beach! fletch your posting some good points, some really good ones.
me, im not upset, i hate politics for just this reason
I don't think anyone has a BAD plan for moving the mascot. I just think logistically its been tough to put together.

my only true gripe, is that WAYYYY back in march, the plan was agreed upon, that
it only spent the first weekend in mb, then, 2 weeks ago, that all went to shit
And I THINK this is where the confusion is coming from. In FEBRUARY I said I would take it north from MB but it would be the 2nd weekend. At the END of MARCH you said you wanted to move it North but on the 1st weekend of MB. In the mean time plans were made to have it at the 2nd weekend HDForum ride... The problem is much of it was done in different threads. So SKJOLD, Fletch and I thought you were staying through the 2nd weekend, and that there was a plan in place. When we saw that you weren't staying for the 2nd weekend, I PM'd SKJOLD and said maybe someone should make sure of the plan whichever way it was going to go. The plan we suggested was Fletch would get it and bring it to MB, then hand it off to you for the 1st ride. Then you would hand it off to me for the 2nd ride and then I would bring it North on the 21st and either bring it to meet you, or pass it off to someone who would then bring it to you or whomever.

i could care less how long it spends anywhere, but, would like to see it move, not be stagnet
for the extra weekend.
I agree. I also think they're are always going to be hang-ups where it'll get stuck somewhere for awhile, but I don't see this as one of those. This is holding it over an extra couple days so that a group of members (maybe a BIG group) will get a chance to ride with the mascot, when they might not otherwise get one. To me that's a good use of time.

i didnt like some of the pm's i got regarding this, and i m not mentioning which ones by whom, but i didnt appreciate them, you know who wrote them know what im talking about
Yeah, now THAT'S just not right. I haven't read one thing you wrote that made me think that you wanted anything more than to just see the mascot keep moving and to get your chance to ride with it.

im thinking about taking the ride with cmbucky to meet with crash, ride it east and keep goin
this will come together

see ya's in mb
It'll be great to meet you at MB and we'll plan that ride to get teh mascot out to you Jersey Guys. Hell, maybe I'll even follow you across. I haven't be to AC in a couple months...

Who has it now? I see no reason why we can pass it in and around the Carolinas in between meet and greets as long as there is someone to bring it back in time for the second weekend. It does not have to be stagnet. Where are all the peeps in the Carolinas who wanted to carry the mascot?

Now to settle this issue, you all have to keep in mind that we orginally planned to have the Mascot at the rally for 1-2 days. But there was a bit of confusion on the dates and as a result we had to schedule 2 weekends as to not screw people out of carrying it. So if there is a way to move it around the state a bit inbetween meet and greets, then by all means, make it happen. If not, then we will just have to be patient and wait till the second weekend to move the mascot north.

All we can do is learn from our mistakes and try to make it smoother next time. Now insted of complaining about it being stuck in the Carolinas, till the 20th, I recommend that everyone who is next in line (North Eastern States) post in the North Eastern thread and get a solid plan worked out for moving the Mascot through New England and perhaps even plan a Meet and greet for the North East to get as many New Englanders as possible together before we have to move it west for the Mid-West rally.

The only way I can see to avoid what happened in Myrtle from happening again is to have everyone who volunteers for a Road Captain position, submit their plan as well as part of the application so it can be posted as soon as possible so that confusions about dates and times do not arise and we can limit the time the Mascot says at a rally to our goal of 1-2 days.

Once again, I apologyse for the delay but I want to be fair to those who also made plans at Myrtle Beach. It will reach the North East I promise.

Hey, SKJOLD. I have the Mascot right now. I'll be in MB Friday evening. It's my understanding that I will act as Road Captain for both Saturday rides (if there are no other volunteers). I've tentatively picked a route for the first Saturday ride but, I want to get down there and ride the route one time Friday evening to make sure that it's a good route. I talked to a guy at work who's ridden extensively at Myrtle and he thinks I have a good route picked. I also want to talk to some of the folks at MB HD to see if they have any suggestions for an alternate route. And, I have a friend (experienced rider, new to the forum) that's volunteered to act as sweeper for the ride.

Good idea on passing the Mascot off for the week. What may work out well is for me to pass the Mascot to someone who's going to be there the first weekend only. They can take the Mascot when they leave the first weekend and pass it off to someone who's coming back the second weekend. However, before we pass it off, whoever leaves MB after the first weekend with the Mascot needs to have it pre-arranged as to who they're going to pass it off to that's bringing it back. Heck, even if it stays in the area, if someone else wants to plan a mid-week ride, I'd be happy to pass it off to them.

For those who are planning to attend, I'll see you at the Meet and Greet and Mascot ride on Saturday.

Already got that plan rolling a bit. I'll be bringing it north to central PA after Myrtle Beach, then handing it off to cmbucky in eatern PA. Anyone who wants to ride along with us, PM one or the other of us. Then HE will be making plans to get it to AcidRayn in Jersey who will take it from there!
