I recently took a long trip (4000k miles) on my 2003 Electraglide FLHTi - fuel injected. About halfway through the trip is started randomly sputtering and misfiring. I have changed plugs, wires, air filter and cleaned the fuel system. I recently realized that it only does it when my fuel drops to half a tank or below? It then runs great when I fill it back up. Any suggestions on what the cause may be?

 

Did you change the fuel filter at the tank????

 

No I did not. If it was the filter, wouldn't it do it all the time instead of just when I am at half a tank?

 

I read somewhere that there might be some sort of pressure leak? Does that sound right? I will change the filter at the tank first...seems like a cheap elimination and probably needs a new one anyway.
