Default SE air cleaner

Hi all, I have a 14 cvo deluxe. Tonight I was putting in a K&N air filter when I noticed how much of the filter is covered by the chrome housing. Has anyone cut the top and bottom off to expose all the filter? Any drawbacks by doing this? Thought.

Andy

That's a great idea, and looks cool too!! Wish I thought of that before spending $600 on a Wimmer Spike!!

This really got me thinking. I had a look at my OEM wrinkle black Night Train cover, it could easily be cut down, but would still have the breathers venting into the AC. The one good thing about the Wimmer Spike is the external breathers, but they still spit onto the pipes and oil tank occasionally. Is there a way to vent the breathers externally on an OEM Set-up? Below the bike maybe??

That basically what I am thinking with the SE Ventelator. The ventelator has more surface area on the filter then the one in the link above. So I guess my question should be does the SEV have enough exposed filter or would it Benifit from cutting off the tabs.

Think I will have the dyno tech test that tomorrow.
