Left lights on over night and battery was dead. Charged battery and got bike to start. Everything appeared to be fine, but approx 20 miles later the bike shut down. Had to wait a minute or so, and though hesitant it started up.*

It then shut down on me every time I came to a complete stop. Sometimes I had to keep the the bike revved up to prevent shutting down. Sometimes it worked and others it didn't.*It appears that the problem starts once the bike warms up.

My sled has 10500 miles on it. What could be the problem?

 

Get a new battery. Sounds like the old one isn't holding a charge anymore.

 

Before replacing the battery get it load tested. Look at all the battery and ground connections to make sure they're clean and tight.
You could have a dirty IAC that might need a quick cleaning. If it dies at idle that can be a cause.
Maybe you got a load of bad gas.
Did it throw any codes?
Isn't the bike under warranty? If so, I would let the dealer have a go at it.

 

Im gonna go with need a new battery on the mere fact that it was drained and you had to charge it. Also, if the bike was sitting for a while, gas gets stale and your bike will run like crap.
