Evo hot start problems
Hey guys,
So my dad's bike is an 89 heritage classic. And when the bike is cold it fires right up. We have a reoccurring hot start problem. Friday we put about 50 miles on. Not a super hot day either. We stopped for a quick second came out and it wouldn't start. When you hit the starter button it engages the starter and it turns just a little bit then stops. You let the button go and hit it again it usually fires right up. Well friday it didn't. A second gear roll start fired it right up. All lights work fine. I was told to try a bigger battery. Any insight would be greats. Thanks.

If the battery has been in there for a while, replace it. With the age of the bike, I would also replace the cable. They could have some internal corrosion not visible. Make sure the solenoid wire at the starter is clean and tight. If the starter motor is still spinning, and not cranking the engine, then the starter drive is slipping and needs To be replaced. Hope this helps.
