2001 1200 sportster loses power
I have a 2001 Harley Davidson sportster 1200 custom. Every time I give it a little throttle when accelerating, in any gear, it will cut out all power as though it's going to stall until I let off the throttle. If I use the clutch and then give a throttle and slowly let out the clutch sometimes it will blow Blacksmoke out the back and then accelerate through as though it's burning something out before I can accelerate. What could this issue be? I'm guessing it might have something to do with my carburetor since I did take it apart and clean out the tray/float/needle thing. The bike has been sitting for about a year while I was in Afghanistan.

I cleaned the tray and some parts of the carb. Didn't want to take it apart completely since I don't have a garage to have clean places to put everything. Thanks I'll take it to a shop and have them clean the carb and jets and balance the carb? See if that all works. I was able to drive it last night, just dealt with the loss of power at first. Eventually it cleared up and ran fine but I'll still get it all cleaned.
Thank you very much! I'll post if that fixes everything
